Patstroy-92 takes part in the reconstruction of Maria Louisa Boulevard
On 10 June 2026, a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of the reconstruction of the tram lines along Knyaginya Maria Louisa Blvd in the section between Opalchenska Street and Kozloduy Street in Sofia.
The project contractor is Transpat Infra 2022 Consortium, including two companies from GEOTECHMIN GROUP: Transremontstroy EAD and Patstroy-92 AD together with Infra Pro Consult Ltd. The leader of the Consortium is Transremontstroy EAD.
‘The project is divided into five phases. The exceptionally complex infrastructure, particularly in the lower-lying section of the railway station square, posed a major challenge for the engineering design team,’ noted the construction supervisor Ivo Ivanov.
‘The project alignment is over 1 km long. The works include the complete replacement of the tram tracks, the catenary line support system and street lighting, as well as improvements to the platforms. It is an extremely important project, as no repairs have been carried out on this section for more than 40 years. The last rehabilitation works were completed in 1985, and the infrastructure deterioration has led to severe wear and tear on some of the newest electric public transport vehicles. This has been identified as a major issue by the municipal authorities and I am pleased that this very important project has commenced today,’ added Mayor Vasil Terziev.
The project value is estimated at more than EUR 8.5 million and is expected to be completed in April 2027.
On behalf of Sofia Municipality, the event was attended by Mr Nikola Lyutov, Deputy Mayor for Public Construction; Mr Tsvetomir Petrov, Chairman of Sofia City Council; Mr Momchil Daskalov, Mayor of Serdika District; and several municipal councilors.
On behalf of the project contractors, the event was attended by Mr Asparuh Lepichev, Executive Director of Patstroy-92 AD; Mrs Yuliana Merzhanova, Executive Director and Mr Valeri Velikov, Deputy Executive Director of Transremontstroy EAD; and Mr Dominic Hamers, Executive Director of Geotechmin OOD.
