Rehabilitation of 22.2-km of Road II-81 Kostinbrod – Buchin Pass completed

November 2019

As part of Patishta 2016 – First Stage Consortium, PATSTROY-92 AD together with Geostroy AD, Roads and Equipment EAD and Dimas AD completed the rehabilitation of Lot 2 Road ІІ-81 Коstinbrod – Buchin Pass from km 8+200 to km 30+400. The total length of the road section is 22.2 km. The project was implemented under the Operational Programme Regions in Growth 2014–2020 co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

The rehabilitated section of Lot 2 starts at the outskirts of the town of Kostinbrod, passes through the village of Buchin Pass and ends beyond the three‐legged junction to the town of Godech. The works completed under this project include two renovated bridges – over the River Blato and the River Buchino, 13 road junctions, strengthening of a landslide at km 9+950 to km 10+030. Furthermore, the drainage conditions of the road section were considerably improved and the existing traffic flow was optimized.

The successful implementation of the project has improved the quality of the entire road section, thus increasing traffic safety. Going through Petrohan Pass shortens the distance between Sofia and Montana by about 50 km and the newly rehabilitated road section ensures safe, reliable and efficient travel for the residents of Kostinbrod, Godech and Berkovitsa municipalities.
