A Contract for Construction of LOT 3.3 on Struma Motorway Has Been Signed

On 25 September 2015, Dipl.Eng. Assen Antonov, Executive Director of National Company Strategic Infrastructure Projects – Employer, and Dipl.Eng. Ivan Mitrev, a legal representative of STRUMA - LOT 3.3 Consortium – Contractor, signed a Contract for Design and Construction of Struma Motorway Lot 3.3.

The conclusion of the contract was attended by Mrs. Lilyana Pavlova, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and Mr. Ivaylo Moskovski, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications.

The project is funded under Operational Programme Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020. The contract will be executed in accordance with FIDIC’s Conditions of Contract - Yellow Book.

STRUMA - LOT 3.3 Consortium comprises GBS Infrastructure Construction AD, PATSTROY-92 AD, Glavbolgarstroy AD and Geostroy AD. The Consortium was awarded the contract in severe competition with eight other bidders - five foreign construction companies, two joint ventures involving Bulgarian and foreign construction companies and one consortium of entirely Bulgarian companies.

Lot 3.3 is a road section between the towns of Kresna and Sandanski with a length of 23.624 km. The alignment of Lot 3.3 is located in close proximity to the Struma River and the existing E79 road and Sofia-Kulata railway.

The Contractor, STRUMA LOT 3.3 Consortium, is preparing detailed technical designs and drawings in order to build up and put the road section into operation within a three-and-a-half year period. The works will start at the beginning of 2016 construction season and are scheduled to be completed in 2019.

The following facilities will be built on Lot 3.3: two road junctions, 15 agricultural overpasses, underpasses and access subways, 9 bridge structures, a large number of small road facilities, retaining and reinforced-concrete walls for strengthening of the road route, vertical and horizontal road markings, and protective elastic fences.
